This self-guided Kumano Kodo trip starts off in Kyoto, exploring the many wonderful attractions of Japan's cultural heartland. You will then visit Koyasan, home to 115 temples on a venerated Buddhist mountain and a chance to stay in an active monastery before you depart on the full Kumano Kodo walk along the Nakahechi route. As with other RAW Travel trips the days can be modified to suit your time schedule. For example, adding extra nights in Kyoto or Koyasan or reducing the duration by skipping an element - itineraries are flexible.

Day 8 | Hike Tsugizakura to Kumano Hongu Taisha (up to 22km)
Day 9 | Explore Hongu area
Day 10 | Hike Hongu area to Koguchi (13km)
Day 11 | Hike Koguchi to Kumano Nachi Taisha (14.5km)
Day 12 | Conclusion of tour - depart Kii-Katsuura
